Cedar & Treated Pine

Our work 9

Readily available and inexpensive, treated pine is a very viable option for decking.  Because the wood is treated under pressure with water-borne preservatives that help to keep the wood from susceptibility to warping and insects.

If it is an economical solution you seek, Treated Pine is a great option. If it’s natural wood you seek for your decking, consider cedar.  It’s heart (the deep, rep portions) are rot resistant, and don’t readily absorb moisture.  Because of this, cedar boards are lasting, and are less apt to warp.

Plan on a lifetime use of 15-20 years with cedar, with some repair in high trafficked areas like steps.

Porches, Pergolas, and Accessories

Screen Porches

A porch is an extension of a home’s living area: a place to savor a summer’s breeze, observe wildlife, or bask in birdsong at the end of the day. Since most people want to spend more time outdoors, it comes as no surprise that many homeowners would like to screen in their porches. When you’re protected from insects and blowing leaves, life on the porch takes on a whole new appeal. Just imagine enjoying outdoor meals without swatting away flies! A screened-in porch can serve as a second family room, a place to entertain friends, and a spot for relaxing evenings with the kids. Best of all, screening in this space takes much less time and money than fully enclosing a porch.

Pergola

Pergolas are elegant outdoor structures often used to reprieve patios from the harsh afternoon sun or support climbing blooms in backyard gardens. The stately structures are defined by vertical pillars that support a series of open crossbeams, frameworks, or canopy coverings overhead. Pergolas differ from gazebos in that they lack traditional, solid roofs and feature an open, airy construction that welcomes diffused sunlight and rouge summer winds into the structure.

Gazebos

Gazebos are outdoor structures with solid roofs, open walls that offer views of the surroundings, and a circular, turret, or octagonal silhouette. The solid roof creates a space to escape from harsh elements and a shady space to cool off during sweltering summer afternoons.
