Alongside playing football and basketball for Central Michigan, Mike earned his business degree from The College of Business Administration in ’72. After graduating he worked for Paul Inman Food Broker for 8 years, while also getting his masters at Wayne State. Mike finished his time with Paul Inman Food Broker as their VP of Sales & Marketing. Eventually marrying his Highschool sweetheart Nancy McCoy.
His journey in construction began when he built two decks for his own home and his mom and dad, leading to the establishment of his own business in deck construction. He built the current indoor and outdoor showroom in 1989. With all the hard work and dedication to serving the metro Detroit area, he quickly became the recognized leader in the industry for decks & porches. Mike has been very proud to call Coy Construction the recognized leader in the industry for 40+ years
Growing up in the business and watching his Dad succeed for over 40 years has laid the ground work for his own passion to make Coy Construction last for another 40 years! Being involved with the business at such a young age helped him grow to love the business and strive to live up to the high standards his dad has set for the company.
